The Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education (CPE) predicts significant growth in health care jobs in Kentucky over the next 10 years.
A recent report by CPE and Esmi showed an expected 12% jump for jobs in the health care industry here in the Commonwealth. The firm reported earlier this year that the need for engineers was also expected to increase in coming years. Analysts study economic trends to gauge whether graduates in specific fields match the pace of Kentucky market growth.
Kentucky colleges and universities are on track to meet the growing need for health care professionals. The need for nurses and nursing instructors, pharmacists, mental health professionals and medical administrators drive much of the growth. The number of graduates with health care certificates and associate degrees also continues to rise. Future workforce needs include pharmacist technicians, medical assistants and clinical lab technicians.
