Governor Andy Beshear and Secretary of State Michael Adams reached a non-partisan agreement to give Kentuckians concerned with the threat of COVID-19 expanded options to exercise their right to vote this November.
Kentucky voters can visit govoteky.com to request a mail-in ballot, find a ballot drop-box, find early voting locations, and access additional information about the upcoming election.
The biggest change in 2020 is the option for any Kentucky voters “concerned with contracting or spreading COVID-19” the ability to vote by mail. The online portal to request your absentee ballot is open now through Oct. 9. Ballots can be returned by mail with postage paid or dropped in special dropoff locations designated by each county clerk. Ballots will be mailed in mid-September and must be postmarked by Election Day (Nov. 3) and received by Nov. 6.
Kentuckians can also vote in person early starting Oct. 13, three weeks ahead of Election Day. Safety protocols for mask-wearing and social distancing will be required. Every workday between Oct. 13 and Nov. 3 and every Saturday for at least four hours, voting locations will be available in each Kentucky county. County election officials will announce soon election sites in their counties. Each Kentucky county will have one ‘super-center’ for in-person voting on Nov. 3.
If you are not yet registered, Kentuckians the deadline to submit your voter registration is Oct. 5, 2020 to be able to vote in the general election on or before Nov. 3, 2020.
2020 marks an important year in Kentucky politics as Kentuckians will choose the next President of the United States and incumbent Senator Mitch McConnell (R) will face Amy McGrath (D) for a seat in the U.S. Senate.
