Parts of Kentucky will reach their peak fall foliage this week.
SmokyMountains.com offers a 2020 Fall Foliage Prediction Map to find out where trees are expected to reach their peak this fall. According to their map, a large part of Kentucky will reach peak foliage between Oct. 19 and 26, 2020.
Kentucky Tourism says a variety of trees grow in the Commonwealth including dogwoods and sumacs that turn red and purple, sugar maples that turn orange and red, oaks, sourwoods and sweet gums that take on red hues, and poplars and hickories that turn yellow and gold.
A scenic drive with your household is a pandemic-friendly way to enjoy the fall colors safely. Daniel Boone National Forest, Red River Gorge, Wilderness Road Heritage Highway and Woodlands Trace National Scenic Byway are all great choices for wooded drives through Kentucky to see fall foliage.
