Louisiana has launched plans to replace the Belle Chasse Tunnel and Bridge, a $112 million project and the first P3 of its kind for the state’s transportation department.
A Notice of Intent (NOI) was administered by the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development seeking interested private companies, with Letters of Intent (LOI) due at the beginning of April. The P3 will replace the existing one-way tunnel and opposite-direction bridge with a two-way traffic tunnel and bridge.
Interest in the project is coming from in-state, as well as out-of-state companies. The partnerships will be complimented with a $50 million grant from the state. Currently, Louisiana is fighting a $13 billion backlog in infrastructure projects.
