Transportation improvement input needed by Lexington MPO

Lexington’s metropolitan planning organization is asking for the public’s input on its transportation plans.

The transportation planning agency seeks feedback on its FY 2021-FY 2024 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP). The list of programs and projects outlines where funds will be allocated during the next four years.

Major projects in Fayette County:

  • Curbs, gutters, sidewalks and bikeways on Liberty Rd and North Limestone
  • Safety and congestion improvements along Richmond Rd
  • Sidewalk improvements on Rosemont Garden, Wilson-Downing, Lane Allen, West Loudon & Armstrong Mill
  • Improved safety and bicycle/pedestrian connectivity at Forbes Rd/Red Mile Rd/Virginia Ave and UK’s campus
  • MPO’s Bottleneck Study and Imagine Nicholasville Road transportation and land use plan
  • Public transit funding and the replacement and expansion of Lextran buses
  • Studies to extend a major trail corridor from between downtown Lexington to Jessamine County and to connect the Town Branch Commons eastward to the Brighton Rail Trail in Hamburg
  • Extensions of Fieldstone Way from the Beaumont Library to Snaffle Rd & the continuation of Citation Blvd from Winburn Dr to Russell Cave Rd
  • Initial design work for a new road under I-75 from Polo Club Blvd to Sir Barton Way
  • Completion of the Town Branch Trail and South Elkhorn Trail, and new trail project along Alumni Drive.
  • Improvements to New Circle Road, Newtown Pike and the I-75/I-64 ‘Common Route’ in Fayette County.
  • Replacement of the L&N Railroad Bridge on North Broadway, including bicycle and pedestrian facilities

Major projects in Jessamine County:

  • Completion of the East High & West High Shared Use Trails
  • Improvements to Brannon Road and Ashgrove Pike
  • Completion of the Eastern Nicholasville Bypass between KY 39 and KY 169
  • Safety Improvements to the Wilmore “Y” Intersection of KY 29 and US 68
  • Continued bridge maintenance and interstate paving projects
