P3s Cited as Key to Developing Smart Cities

Forty percent of U.S.-based companies responding to a survey said public-private partnerships would be useful in building “smart cities,” according to a B2B technology report from ABI Research.

The survey of 455 U.S.-based companies found that smart infrastructure and e-government were top technology priorities, followed by smart mobility, smart grid and smart transportation. More than half of the survey’s respondents cited lack of fund and skills as top barriers.

P3s would be helpful for feasibility studies, joint funding and pilot testing in smart-city initiatives, 40 percent of respondents said.
