A fatality on I-96 in Detroit has led to the creation of a public-private partnership to install cable barriers along the median where the crash occurred.
A partnership between the state Department of Transportation and the Keifer Foundation will fund a $300,000 project to install 1.7 miles of cable at the location where 18 year Mitchell Keifer was killed in an accident last year.
General Motors CEO Mary Barra, Lt. Gov. Brian Calley and state Transportation Director Kirk Steudle were among those leading the discussion alongside Keifer’s dad, Steve.
