A new industrial park in Independence, Kentucky will take advantage of the highly anticipated road widening for KY 536 and the recent opening of Amazon Air’s hub at the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky Airport (CVG).
About Park 536
Park 536 is located off Mt. Zion Road (Kentucky State Route 536) less than five miles from the new Amazon facility and just two miles from the I-75/I-71 interchange. The 108-acre industrial park will include three state-of-the-art warehouses boasting 252,000; 306,000; and 580,000 square feet.
Developer VanTrust will start site and infrastructure work this summer and will go vertical with two buildings in the spring of 2022. The first two buildings are planned to open in the first quarter of 2023.
Project development
VanTrust worked closely with the City of Independence to make the park a reality including securing infrastructure investments from Kenton County, the State and the City. The $70 million development of Park 536 will create jobs and contribute to economic growth for northern Kentucky.
The widening of KY 536 is part of Kentucky Transportation Cabinet’s KY 536 project, which was largely funded by a federal BUILD grant. U.S. DOT’s Better Utilizing Investments to Leverage Development (BUILD) Transportation Discretionary Grants program funds investments in transportation infrastructure, including transit.
VanTrust will also begin work on a three-lane public roadway from a new roundabout on KY Route 536 into the park.
