Messer-Harmon hands over keys to Lynn Family Stadium

Louisville City FC, the two-time USL Championship soccer team, will begin its next season in a brand new stadium.

Messer-Harmon completed construction on Lynn Family Stadium earlier this month. The state of the art $65 million, 11,600-seat facility includes two standing-only supporter sections, eight bars, a giant 40 x 72-foot video board and natural grass field.

Messer Construction Co. project manager Jason Larkin handed over the keys to Louisville City FC president Brad Estes, coach John Hackworth and other LouCity executives March 3 in a celebratory event attended by Louisvlle Mayor Greg Fischer. The Messer-Harmon team also raised the LouCity flag for the first time inside the stadium.

Estes called the project a “P4” – adding ‘purple’ to the usual public-private partnership term. He acknowledged all the local leaders and investors that helped make the stadium project happen.

Messer-Harmon completed the 15-month construction project on time and on budget. The entire project included 1,012 construction workers and required more than 345,000 total working hours to complete.

Game play in the USL is currently suspended but the team hopes to open its new stadium this spring. The first game was originally scheduled for April 11.
