Senior living homes are adjusting to new technology in the 21st century, and Louisville, Ky., is at the forefront of the movement.
The Thrive Center, a state-of the art senior living community equipped with the latest and greatest Samsung technology, celebrated its grand opening October 19, attracting national attention. A public-private partnership between the Commonwealth of Kentucky and Louisville Metro Government, in addition to a series of private companies like Samsung, CDW Healthcare and Signature HealthCare, the Thrive Center serves as a showcase for how technology is changing senior-living care.
Technologies like music-as-medicine, brain fitness software and wellness apps are used at Thrive, while there’s still room for new technology to be added in the future.
“We have more companies headquartered in [Louisville] than any other city in the world as it relates to lifelong wellness and aging care,” Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer explained. “Outsiders have validated the genius of Louisville, Kentucky.”
