A happiest of birthdays to @LouisvilleWater. The best tap water around is always flowing at Lynn Family Stadium. pic.twitter.com/Ll313e2dhu
Today in Louisville history, 1860, Louisville Water Tower began its pumping operations at the base of Zorn Avenue. 💧 At 183ft tall it is the oldest ornamental water tower in the world. 🌎 Say #Cheersto160 years with @louisvillewater this weekend here: https://t.co/ZU12ho4f4P pic.twitter.com/UkAH25fyj3

Louisville Water Company began operations with only 512 customers 160 years ago and opened its 110-million-gallon Crescent Hill Reservoir a few years later in 1879. It has provided drinking water through tornadoes, floods and wars. In 1980, People Magazine named Louisville Water the best-tasting tap water in the U.S.
Today, Louisville Water delivers drinking water to nearly one million people through more than 4200 miles of water main. Several core Kentucky industries, including distilleries on the Kentucky Bourbon Trail, say Louisville Water plays a vital role in their success.
Part of the 160th-anniversary celebration included a new section on Louisville Water’s website filled with historic information, timelines and fun facts. See it at louisvillewater.com/content/cheers-160-years.
