Louisville Orchestra finishes July portion of statewide “In Harmony” tour, prepares for September leg

By Lilli Dubler, Building Kentucky

Music Director Teddy Abrams and members of the Louisville Orchestra recently concluded the second leg of “In Harmony – The Commonwealth Tour.” The July portion of the tour included performances in Ashland, Newport, Glasgow, Somerset and Bardstown.

Made possible through a budget appropriation from the Kentucky General Assembly, “In Harmony” is a two-year tour intended to bring economic and artistic prosperity to all parts of Kentucky. Since the tour began in May 2023, the Louisville Orchestra has been able to connect with communities at each stop through collaborations with local musicians, artists, schools and community organizations.

The September segment of the tour will include shows in Murray, Madisonville, Henderson and a special performance by Teddy Abrams, Chris Thile and Friends at Happy Top Park in Beattyville. The Louisville Orchestra will also hold a masterclass in Murray, allowing musicians to come practice and learn from professionals.
