Lifetime movie “You’re Not Safe Here” shot in Louisville, directed by Kentucky native

Being temporarily relocated back home to Kentucky during the COVID-19 pandemic brought a change of scenery and new opportunity for Louisville native Rachel Helson.

While talking with Louisville-based production company Stargazer Films, she was offered the job directing a feature film shot in Pewee Valley. Helson, an actress, producer and director who began acting at Louisville’s Walden Theatre and Sacred Heart School for the Arts and graduated from Collegiate High School, directed “You’re Not Safe Here” over the course of 12 days in fall 2020.

Where “You’re Not Safe Here” Was Filmed

The thriller, which stars Haskiri Velazquez and Nicky Whelan, recently debuted on Lifetime is based on a true story. “You’re Not Safe Here” was shot at private homes in La Grange and Pewee Valley with scenes in the area including Pewee Valley Town Hall.

The film follows a young pregnant woman who escapes an abusive relationship and is taken in by a seemingly friend family who may have bad intentions for her unborn child.
