Lextran seeks public input to help shape the future of Lexington’s public transit

By Parry Barrows, Building Kentucky

Lextran is developing a new Strategic Plan that will help shape the future of public transit in Fayette County — and they want your input. The agency has launched a public survey to capture community feedback, and they want to hear as many voices as possible.

The survey is available online now at Lextran.com/StrategicPlan and will be open through Dec. 12. Spanish and Mandarin versions of the survey are available on Lextran’s website and printed copies are available at the Lextran Administrative Offices located at 200 W. Loudon Ave.

“Whether you ride the bus every day, only on occasion, or not at all — public transit has an impact on everyone in our community. It provides access to jobs, healthcare, schools, special events and so much more,” said Fred Combs, Lextran General Manager. “We value public input and want this plan to reflect the real needs and voices of the people who live and work in Fayette County.”

Capturing public input is only one part of Lextran’s comprehensive Strategic Plan development. They are also engaging with local stakeholders, assessing existing operations, researching peer transit systems, and analyzing emerging industry trends.

Once completed, Lextran’s new Strategic Plan will serve as a roadmap for decision-making, planning, and investments across the organization.
