The Alexander Scammell Bridge that connects the towns of Durham and Dover in New Hampshire no longer lives in the dark. A recent public-private partnership with Affinity LED Lighting installed new lights along the multi-purpose bridge following the removal of the lights in 2012 by the New Hampshire Department of Transportation.
An advocacy campaign to turn the lights back on was started by local businesswoman Renee Plummer, who said the project was an example of how New Hampshire natives can easily work together to get things done.
New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu encouraged the public-private partnership. According to Sununu, the project exemplified the hard work and dedication of local community members.
“Public-private partnerships are a great way to do it, and this is a great example, I think, of just that 21st century way of doing things,” Sununu said.
