Kentucky is open for business, and leaders across the state are looking to the private sector for ideas, expertise and capital to advance infrastructure projects that could transform the Commonwealth.

Those are among the messages Kentucky leaders will deliver next week during a regional meeting of business leaders and public-private partnership advocates in Chicago. P3 Hub Midwest will be held April 9-10 at the Intercontinental Chicago Magnificent Mile. The annual conference brings together hundreds of leaders from public and private entities from Indiana, Ohio, Illinois, Michigan, Kentucky, Arkansas, Missouri, Minnesota.

The keynote speaker for the two-day event is Jim Ray, Special Advisor, Office of the Secretary for Infrastructure – US Department of Transportation.

Two officials from the Commonwealth of Kentucky are scheduled to speak at the P3 Hub Midwest are:

  • Megan McLain, Innovative Finance Manager for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet;
  • Christopher Reece, Executive Director of the Office of Finance for the Kentucky Tourism, Arts and Heritage Cabinet.

McLain, a graduate of Michigan State University and the University of Kentucky School of Law, joined KYTC in 2009.  She was a key member of the Louisville-Southern Indiana Ohio River Bridges Project team and has played a significant roll in the discussion around public-private partnerships and tolling. She was named innovative finance manager last year.

Reece joined the Tourism Cabinet in 2016 and has been one of the key players in the Commonwealth’s efforts to consider P3 projects to boost investments, particularly among the Department of Parks. A graduate of University of Louisville, Reece spent more than 26 years in the banking industry.

C2 Strategic Communications is a sponsor of the conference and will moderate a panel discuss on P3 opportunities in the Commonwealth.
