More than 500 Kentucky families are one step closer to getting back on their feet after tornadoes and flooding left widespread destruction in western and eastern Kentucky. To date, Kentucky REALTORS® have provided more than $1 million in disaster relief funds to families affected by both natural disasters.
“Kentucky REALTORS® took swift action to secure funding to help those affected by both disasters knowing they would need support immediately and in the months to come,” said Mike Inman, Kentucky REALTORS® President. “Helping communities grow and flourish has always been a part of our mission and we’re proud to support our neighbors as they recover from this devastation and rebuild.”
Since January, Kentucky REALTORS® have awarded tornado relief funds to 311 families. In total, Kentucky REALTORS® have provided more than $695,000 to help families affected by the December 2021 storms and tornadoes.
Since August, Kentucky REALTORS® have awarded flood relief funds to 255 families. In total, Kentucky REALTORS® have provided $336,000 to help families affected by the July 2022 floods.
“It’s not just about restoring homes, it’s about restoring hope,” said Josh Summers, Kentucky REALTORS® CEO. “This funding means more than 500 families are one step closer to getting back on their feet. We know there is more to do, and we’re committed to continuing to help Kentucky families in the days and weeks ahead.”
Kentucky REALTORS® are still accepting applications for flood relief assistance. Flood relief funds can be applied toward assistance with mortgage payments and rent. Relief assistance is limited to three months of housing expenses up to a maximum of $3,000 per household.
