Material Handling Manufacturer Investing $20 Million in Kentucky Expansion

MHS, a leading supplier of material handling, automation, and related software products, recently opened its newly expanded facility in Mt. Washington, Kentucky. Now encompassing a total of 400,000 square feet, the site will serve as the company’s global headquarters and house manufacturing, engineering, sales, marketing, and executive management offices.

The company began operations at the location in 2017 and recognized the need to expand rather quickly. The state of Kentucky is providing upwards of $2.6 million in tax savings through the Kentucky Business Investment program and the Kentucky Enterprise Initiative Act. However, these incentives are subject to MHS hiring 300 Kentucky-based employees. In total, MHS is reportedly investing more than $20 million in the new facility and its people.

In addition to expanded manufacturing and distribution space, the expansion will provide employees with an on-site fitness center and specially commissioned artwork that commemorates the company’s history in the greater Louisville metropolitan area. Founded in 1999, MHS boasts a global installed equipment and software base of over $5 billion, with customers in small to large distribution and fulfillment operations in industries from e-commerce to third party logistics.
