Jefferson Community & Technical College (Jefferson) is celebrating Community College Month by spotlighting its role in expanding access to education and strengthening the local workforce.
In a recent WAVE Country interview, President Dr. Ty Handy emphasized the critical role community colleges play in today’s economy, providing affordable education while preparing students for in-demand careers.
Dr. Handy highlighted how Jefferson works closely with local employers to align programs with workforce needs, ensuring students can move directly into careers or seamlessly transfer to four-year universities. He also pointed to the college’s focus on student support and removing barriers to completion.
As the largest institution in the Kentucky Community & Technical College System, Jefferson serves thousands of students across the Louisville region and remains a key driver of workforce training and economic growth.
