I-Move Kentucky kicks off construction in Louisville

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet’s I-Move Kentucky project in Louisville is starting construction this week in several project areas that could impact travelers on Interstate 265, also known as the Gene Snyder Freeway.

Construction work is starting on the I-Move Kentucky project in two of four project areas. The I-Move Kentucky project includes improvements to four, major sections of I-265, I-71 and I-64 through a heavily traveled corridor in Jefferson and Oldham counties.

“As we work to ensure the health and safety of Kentuckians during this time, we must continue to move transportation forward responsibly with the current situation and long-term vitality of the state in mind,” Gov. Andy Beshear said.

“This regional project will upgrade two major interchanges to significantly improve safety and add lane capacity to roadways that serve as key freight corridors businesses rely on to transport goods and people depend on to access jobs,” KYTC Secretary Jim Gray said.

Upcoming construction

Construction of the I-Move Kentucky project will begin in the following project areas. Drivers should be cautious when traveling in these areas. Signage and flaggers will be in place to alert drivers of lane closures and construction zones.
