Northern Kentucky University has been awarded $750,000 to help reduce opioid overdoses in Kentucky. The University’s Institute for Health Innovation announced a new federal grant funded program to continue its work in rural Kentucky.
The Bureau of Justice Assistance, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the State Justice Institute and the Institute for Intergovernmental Research awarded the funds. NKU will support programs in Owen and Carroll counties where opioid use disorder continues to increase.
Programming will initiate new activities and support existing initiatives to address opioid overdoses for those who come in contact with law enforcement or are involved in the criminal justice system. NKU will connect with law enforcement, judicial, education and healthcare stakeholders to strengthen partnerships and put more Kentuckians on the path to recovery.
