Gov. Andy Beshear’s first State of the Commonwealth address mentions infrastructure priorities

Gov. Andy Beshear called for several investments in infrastructure in his first State of the Commonwealth address.

The new Democratic governor is focused on completing important projects for families across the Commonwealth. Beshear committed to speeding up the Mountain Parkway Expansion in eastern Kentucky, building the I-69 bridge in western Kentucky, improving drinking water and expanding high-speed internet.

In the speech, he pointed to expanded gaming as a potential revenue generator and noted challenges Kentucky faces related to public education, the opioid crisis, poverty and health. Beshear called on transformational and positive change by leaving divisive politics in the past and focusing on providing opportunity for every Kentucky family as part of “Team Kentucky.”
