The desire for high-speed broadband in local communities has increased, and residents are willing to pay higher prices for better services. The city of Loveland, Colo., is an example of a small community behind efforts to launch a fiber-broadband network public-private partnership that will be managed as a city utility.

Recently, P3s to fund broadband services have skyrocketed as communities seek the convenience of high-speed, but somewhat costly, networks. Professional services like FirstNet, a first-responder broadband network partnership between the Department of Commerce and AT&T, have unfolded to provide more efficient and reliable access the internet, gaining national attention.

Following in the footsteps of many communities, the city of Loveland has received requests for proposals for the public-private partnership.
