Delaware Gov. John Carney is interested in creating jobs for the state, and he’s going to use a public-private partnership to do it. Carney recently signed a bill that will create a nonprofit that will responsible for bringing new employers to the state.
The new partnership will replace the Delaware Economic Development Office and will be supported by some of the state’s largest companies. The new partnership will be reviewed by a board consisting of 15 community members, including business leaders and legislators.
“This governor, along with the business community, is interested in creating jobs,” said Rich Heffron, president of the Delaware State Chamber of Commerce. “Both pieces of legislation are just a first step, but it’s going to be a new day for economic development in Delaware.”
