Preparing students for a successful transition into the workforce is an ongoing challenge, but Central Oregon has a plan to bring meaningful work experience to young people with a 50 member public-private partnership.

Youth CareerConnect is a group composed of Central Oregon businesses, school districts, higher education institutions, government agencies and nonprofits dedicated to creating new internship opportunities for young people in the region. Generated by Better Together, an organization aimed at increasing student success, Youth CareerConnect introduces meaningful internship opportunities to young people in the Central Oregon region.

“This initiative builds a system that serves our students and our economy in Central Oregon. We have a vision to develop the most robust internship system in Pacific NW and together have seen critical investments over the past nine months to begin to realize that vision,” said Roger Lee, executive director of economic development for Central Oregon.
