The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) has remained busy restoring bridges throughout 2020 and still has dozens of construction projects underway through its Bridging Kentucky program.
2020 has been the busiest year of bridge construction in the history of KYTC, with nearly 100 bridges completed this year, including projects in Spencer, Lewis and Morgan counties that were substantially completed in November.
Currently, there are 25 Bridging Kentucky projects underway throughout Kentucky.
Bridging Kentucky is a transformational commitment by KYTC to improve the safety and soundness of bridges across the Commonwealth. KYTC is rehabilitating and replacing critical structures in every region of Kentucky. The goal is to reopen closed bridges, remove weight restrictions that prevent use by school buses, emergency vehicles and businesses, and improve access and mobility for all Kentuckians.
To date, KYTC has completed more than 225 projects statewide.
