Connect 202 Partners, a public-private partnership, is deliver the Loop 202 South Mountain Freeway three years ahead of schedule, the Arizona Department of Transportation says. The project, which is the state’s first highway P3, is scheduled for completion in 2019.
Using a P3 allowed the highway to be built as a single project, instead of nine projects as originally planned.
“This first-of-its-kind public-private partnership in Arizona will not only save taxpayers’ dollars by reducing the overall cost but enable ADOT to create a much-needed transportation link sooner,” ADOT Director John Halikowski told Equipment World.
Fluor Enterprises Inc., Granite Construction Co., Ames Construction Inc. and WSP USA (formerly Parsons Brinckerhoff Inc.) are members of Connect 202 Partners.
