Residents of Kansas City have voted in favor of building a new single terminal at the international airport under a P3 with 75% saying yes to the project.Next steps for the $1 billion project at Kansas City International Airport involves finalizing an memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Edgemoor Infrastructure, the developer selected through the city’s procurement process.
The city council will take up the MOU at its November 30 meeting. Edgemoor has said it will break ground in the fall of 2018 and will now begin scheduling design open houses to gather community input for the terminal’s final design.
The plan calls for constructing the new terminal at the site of the closed Terminal A, with the new terminal opening by the end of 2021.
